Barrackpore's famous "Joluaa'r Kochuri"

If you happen to be in Barrackpore and wish to have "Heenger Kochuri" and "Chholar Daal" then don't think twice... head straight to Joluaa'r Dokan (Joluaa's Shop) opposite Barrackpore railway station. The actual name of this place is Satyanarayan Mishtanna Bhandar but it is popularly known as Jolua'r Dokan... Jolua being the nick name of its founder.

Finding this eatery is very easy... it is just opposite Barrackpore railway starion. This place is more than 150 years old and was started by Late shri Harilal Shaw.

Presently this place is run by Harilal's grandson Mr. Paresh Shaw.

"Camera Conscious"  Mr Paresh Shaw :)
This place is very old but you will find a very happy atmosphere with friendly people... ever ready to serve their patrons.

You will experience an Old world charm here... with very old but very comfortable furniture, Jolua's shop adds to the already popular Heritage of Barrackpore (Barrackpore is famous as the place from where 1857's Sepoy Mutiny was started by Sepoy Mangal Pandey and his team).

Jolua's eatery serves Heenger Kochuri, Chholar Daal, Aaloor Torkaari, Rossogolla, Rabri, Pantuaa and many more seasonal sweets.

My brother first took me to this place and after the very first bite of the Kachori I became a fan of them. The food here is amazing and the old timers say that they have maintained the quality.

They have continued to serve quality foods with quick service at affordable prices. You can take away or dine in. The place has a dining capacity of around 20 to 25 people.

Open from 6 am to 10pm Jolua's shop is always ready to Satiate the appetite of its patrons and customers and even after being open for such long hours the quality of food is never hampered.

The list of Customers and fans is very big... Many well known people have had food here. Mr. paresh was saying that there are few people who stay abroad but whenever the come to India they make it a point to have food here.

Out of this world yummy Rabri
I wish to go again and again to this place and wish that it continues to serve people like this as always. Here are some more pic of the place.
